Dorking

Again, another long term project that is finally seeing some love. Dorking or England Invaded is a simple little VSF project where the evil forces of Prussia come to invade England in the 1870's. The project is loosely based on the novel The Battle of Dorking: Reminiscences of a Volunteer by George Chesney.

At the moment we have enough figures and terrain for some small games but as always it seems, there is a need/want for more...

Below are a few photos of some of my troops (I'm playing the plucky Brits) and a bit of the terrain that we've got for it so far. Nick is playing the dastardly Prussians and I'll get some photos of those as and when. I'll also do some game reports (in a format as of yet to be decided for the blog).

There are some railway elements I've added and I'll also be doing a smallish artillery redoubt along with some more houses and generic terrain.

I love the work that you've done on both the buildings and the miniatures!

Wonderful buildings, you are very skilled. Just one question though, a house in the 1870's with no chimney stacks? How do they keep warm?

Thanks. It's modelled on one in a local village and that doesn't have any chimneys. There were occasionally holes under the ridge line at a gable end in poorer houses that would allow for smoke to escape.

I do love those buildings, the proportions are so good. Maybe release them one day? They’d make great steam punk setting.

Thanks. Potentially that's not a bad idea. Wouldn't be many though lol

Wonderfully evocative buildings; property that needs to be protected from the evil machinations of the dastardly Prussians by those stalwart Perry volunteers!
