Wars in the Stars...

My other gaming love is Star Wars. Having played the old West End Games D6 rpg for many, many years, read the (now called 'legends') novels and plenty of comics and also played the old Star Wars Miniature Battles wargame, it sort of made sense to make a sci-fi range that has a definite Star Wars feel to it.
I'm certainly don't want to copy anything from the Star Wars universe but I have been heavily inspired with the vast majority of the range and hopefully this is apparent.

There are four sections in the sci-fi catalogue consisting of Additions, Vehicles, Buildings and Spacecraft.
The additions range is one that is fairly consist throughout the whole catalogue; namely things that make good scatter terrain and also things that I would want or find useful in games. Be it objectives, narrative pieces or just something that looks cool. The vast majority of the masters are made by hand as that is the way I prefer to do it. Some of the more complicated ones are 3d prints and although this is the easier way to do it, I still prefer the traditional methods.

There are plenty of different options for the additions ranging from cargo containers to control panels to market stalls. Some can be combined and others stuck onto buildings or vehicles to make them look that little bit different and I will hopefully keep adding to it when other ideas pop into my head. I'm also happy for suggestions to add to any of the ranges.

The additions can also be used for some settings that are less than hard sci-fi as shown above. Here I've used the toilet from the 28mm Japanese additions range to great effect with some of the bits from the sci-fi range to represent an out of the way planet (basically, the setting in the first Star Wars Visions episode 'The Duel'). There are a few other photos in the gallery below that show some of the Japanese buildings mixed with the sci-fi ranges and really show off the potential for other settings than the normal ones.

The vehicles range mainly consists of utilitarian haulers and other such cargo vehicles that might be found in space ports the galaxy over. There is also a command speeder truck in there (SFV05) and I do intend on adding some more military type vehicles in the future. A lot of the buildings and vehicles have a 26mm slot on them which can be used in conjunction with plenty of the additions and some of the buildings range, which have a 25mm tab, to really add some variety to the ranges but also for the games themselves in the form of scenario objectives etc. More of these are in the gallery below.

The buildings section is actually bigger than I initially anticipated as originally, I just wanted a couple of 'houses' plus a few other bits to make a settlement on a backwater planet. However, the chaps I game with can be quite persuasive in getting me to make things and so the range expanded to include lots of wall options following the design of the houses and now they even have me making more 'Imperial' style buildings of which I've still got a few to finish off and add to the catalogue. The building above on the left is all made from items from the catalogue (apart from the white tower on the top) and there are many more combinations that can be constructed from what's available.
Again, there is a sot and tab system that allows many different elements to be used between the buildings and vehicles to give plenty of scenario or narrative options for games or even just as modelling projects.

The smallest range is for the spacecraft, although calling it a range is a bit disingenuous as there's only one entry so far lol
I have several other craft drawn up and planned and also a set of turrets including sensor dishes, lasers etc but like a lot of things, it's all down to time. The idea is to keep them a bit scale agnostic as they will work for 'X-wing' scale (nominally 1:270) and 1:144 and quite possibly above-below that as I've tried to keep recognisable elements to a minimum. With luck, in the New Year, I'll be able to sort out the other releases I have planned. Keep everything crossed :-)
Hopefully, this has provided some inspiration for your sci-fi games; whether it be scenario ideas or new terrain and with the gallery below it will keep you inspired for a while to come.
cheers
James
